Telouat

This is a one day excursion trip from Marrakech to Telouet , the Glaoui Kasbah has one of the most spectacular sights of the Atlas –. Although fast decaying into the dark red earth and of little aesthetic value, this vast and weird site offers a unique glimpse into the quasi-medieval power in 20th century Morocco. ... It is a tale of chance and cunning, style and melodrama of two brothers from the Glaoui clan. The Kasbah Glaoui was built by Thami el Glaoui, the second great Glaoui chieftain but was abandoned before completion. Of the Kasbah today little remains, but the structure is huge and there is enough to fill a day of impressions. It is said that there are so many connecting passages and locked doors that nobody knew their way around the complex! Sadly, with the harem, the kitchens and the cinema fast crumbling, visitors are only shown the main halls and the reception rooms.

Ait ben hadou

This is a one day excursion trip from Marrakech to the World Heritage of Ait Benhaddou asbah , one of the most exotic and best preserved in the entire Atlas region. , the Kasbahs was one of the most important fortress strongholds on the old Salt Road , ... though the first buildings at Ait Benhaddou are believed to have been built since the 11th century. The area was a strategic position on the route from Marrakech, through Telouet, to Ouarzazate and the south. Appearing from the barren desert landscape, the Kasbahs were a major stop for camel caravans carrying salt through the Sahara and returning with gold, silver and slaves. Although towered red pisé is a feature of much of the south of Morocco, Ait Benhaddou has a definite edge over the competition. It comes as no surprise that among all other crenulated offerings, Ait Benhaddou became the favourite filming location of many Hollywood directors. Lawrence of Arabia was filmed here, Orson Welles used it as a location for Sodom and Gomorrah and for the epic Jesus of Nazareth, the whole lower part of the village had to be rebuilt. In its heyday, Ait Benhaddou was a busy teeming Ksar with fortified towers and reinforced walls. Guards would watch at the top of watchtowers, peering through small windows to keep an eye for invaders. Inside the Ksar, there was a central mosque surrounded by family homes, communal areas and small palaces. In its earlier history, Ait Benhaddou is believed to have housed thousands of people.

Ouarzazate sightseeing

This is a one day excursion trip to the Kasbah ait benhadou ,And Ourzazat . After breakfast we will drive you 3 hours one way takes you to the gateway of Sahara, traversing the Tizi n'Tichka Pass of the High Atlas. The desert and steep mountain hillsides are clustered with fortified mud dwellings housing many families ... and their livestock. You'll spend the afternoon exploring the UNESCO world heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, which has been used as a backdrop for more than 20 films and was one of the most important fortress strongholds on the old Salt Road caravan routes, where traders brought slaves, gold, ivory and salt from Saharan Africa to Marrakech and beyond. You may also visit Ouarzazate, and the Atlas film studios where films such as the Mummy, Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia etc. have been filmed; or take a walk in oasis riverside gardens at Tamdaught village; or offroad to Teleouet where you'll visit the old Glaoui kasbah. This kasbah has an amazing story behind it, that is intrinsically linked to the formation of Morocco as a country. It was once a beautiful kasbah but now stands crumbling to ruins because no one wants to remember "the vulture" sultan and his son "Thami" who lived here until the 1950's; adds about 2 hours, including loo stops etc. Recommended year round.
