Midel Atlas

Description

The Middle Atlas Mountains

located to the north of the country, are suitable for lovers of forest hikes. Since the elevation differentiation is relatively small (highest point is 3326m), it is easy to reach by foot or mountain bike. Interesting sights such as Ifrane National Park, the Virgin Waterfalls and the Aïn Leuh Cedar Forest are all worth mentioning. The Bou Iblane and Bounaceur ridgelines are steeper. The Anti-Atlas range extends to the south as far as the Tafraoute region. Tafroute is dwarfed by the highest point, Jbel El Kest (2278m). Walking and riding are favoured here. The most famous routes pass through the fortified villages and qsars (storage areas) or the valley of almond trees. Hiking in the Middle Atlas is one of the best possible experiences in Morocco with feasible exploration of captivating, natural beauty, and of a rigidly individual world. Regardless of the level of fitness, this area is accessible to all. There is a wide range of trekking possibilities, from a short ramble through the villages that surround the Kasbah, to more demanding multi-day treks. Mule support can be arranged for bags and people, which opens up more opportunities. The mule trails around the valleys are well contoured and kept in excellent condition.
